hahahaha I’m having the worst allergies lol my head is exploding and I can’t breathe through my nose hahahaha hell yeah

you’re cute though

Goals- Learn to love myself the way I am.

Whys it acceptable for people to refer to me as “white girl” but using the term nigga in a friendly manor to black/white/pink/purple people is SO terrible? I cannot believe people still think a skin tone can justify who you are or what you should be called??? Everyone is so quick to say every white person is racist, so who is really judging who here???????

No you may not think you are racist and I would agree that deep down you are not a racist person. But please understand you are a very, very, very ignorant person.

This mindset of “it’s not a big deal” is what contributes to strained race relations in our nation, it’s what contributes to the discrimination PoC experience on a daily basis.

Have you ever experienced discrimination solely based off of the color of your skin? Maybe you went into a retail store and as soon as you walked by a sales associate they either assume you don’t need help because of course an African-American couldn’t possibly have enough money to shop at this store. Or maybe the sales associate instantly radios their coworkers asking them to keep an eye on you because they’ve assumed you’ve come in the store to steal something. Have you ever told someone, “Yes, I am a senior Economics major.” and then had to suffer through the mixed look of disbelief and amazement on their face as they try to understand how their previous conception of you could have possibly been false? Have you ever had to be showered with artificial praise for doing something white people do everyday? “Wow! You did something most PoC can’t do because of the unequal opportunities and expectations between white people and PoC!”

But why do African-Americans experience this? Ohhh right. I almost forgot, African-Americans were enslaved for 86 years of our nation’s history (1776-1873) and was also recognized from the days of the original Thirteen Colonies. But oh slavery wasn’t so bad, right? They got food and shelter, didn’t they?

Every time a white person thinks it’s ok to use the word, nigga or nigger, it infuriates me. You do not understand what it means to be an African-American living in this country. You do not understand what it means to know the kind of history your ancestors have and what they went through for us to live the lives we do now. You do not understand how it feels to be treated as less because of the color of your skin or as if you have accomplished something that should be held as the standard across humanity. You do not understand.

As an African-American I value those who try to understand, those who fight right along side with us calling out those who live their lives in ignorance and disregard for PoC. I do not doubt that you are not racist, you may think you’re very progressive in your ways but in reality you and others that think like you are ignorant, very misinformed, and more detrimental to the cause of the African-American than anyone else.

So with that, next time you think it’s no big deal to yell ‘nigga’ in the fucking park, just shut the fuck up, please and thank you.

"Over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
